Law and Democracy Support Foundation ( LDSF) condemns the detention of Jordanian journalist Heba Abu Taha in Al-Juweida Prison for a week pending investigation into a complaint filed by the public prosecution under the Electronic Crimes Law. The public prosecutor rejected the bail request submitted by Abu Taha’s lawyer.

Jordanian security forces detained journalist Heba Abu Taha in the Ain Al-Basha area based on a request against her, following a complaint filed by the Media Commission. Abu Taha’s detention came after she published a report about cargo shipping operations in collaboration with the Israeli occupation titled “Jordan’s Role in Defending the Enemy Entity.”

Law and Democracy Support Foundation (LDSF) emphasizes that the detention of Abu Taha constitutes a blatant violation of the freedom of opinion and expression guaranteed by the Jordanian Constitution under Article 15(1), which states: “The state shall guarantee freedom of opinion, and every Jordanian shall have the right to express his opinion freely in speech, writing, drawing, or any other means of expression.”
