Egyptian journalist Mohamed Saeed Fahmy

marks the completion of  6  years in pretrialToday  detention for Egyptian journalist Mohamed Saeed Fahmy, related to several cases, the most recent being Case No. 955 of 2020, State Security Registry. Security forces arrested Mohamed Saeed Fahmy on May 31, 2018, and he was subjected to enforced disappearance for over 45 days before appearing for the first time and being investigated in Case No. 441 of 2018, State Security Supreme Registry.
According to statements from Asmaa Mohamed, Fahmy’s wife, a decision was made to release him on July 15, 2020, but this decision was not implemented even after two weeks, leading to his re-disappearance for nearly four months. Fahmy reappeared on November 18, 2020, before the prosecution, where he was investigated in a new case, No. 2727 of 2020, Agouza Partial Prosecution.
On December 1, 2020, Fahmy received a second release order with a bail of 5,000 EGP, but after about a month and a half of waiting at Agouza Police Station for the decision to be implemented, he was rotated again. On January 16, 2021, he was investigated in Case No. 955 of 2020 by, the State Security Supreme Registry, which has decided to keep him in detention to date.
